WHAT IS STRUCTURED CABLING?

Structured cabling is the organised network wiring inside a building: cable runs from a central comms cabinet to every desk, camera, access point and device position — terminated on patch panels, tested to standard, and labelled so any connection can be traced in seconds. It's the difference between an office where "the internet is down" is a mystery, and one where you look at the patch panel and know exactly which port, which cable, which desk.

WHAT WE INSTALL

• Cat6 / Cat6a / Cat5e cabling — specified per your needs and budget (new installs: Cat6 minimum)
• Comms cabinet builds — patch panels, cable management, switches, UPS, tidy rack layout
• Desk & device outlets — flush-mounted faceplates at every position, positioned before fit-out where possible
• Cable containment — trunking, tray and basket where visible runs are needed
• Testing & certification — every point wire-tested; results documented
• Labelling scheme — both ends of every cable labelled to a logical scheme
• Link to existing systems — new runs patched into live switches without disrupting the business
• Moves, adds & changes — extra points, re-patching, cabinet tidies for messy legacy installs

CHOOSING THE CABLE GRADE

The price difference between grades is small compared to the cost of re-cabling later. We advise honestly per site.

TYPICAL COSTS

• Per network point: £75–£100 — including cable, outlet, patching, testing and labelling
• Volume discounts on 20+ point installations
• Site survey: £150–£300, usually credited against the install
• Existing cabinet tidy/re-patch: quoted per cabinet

Costs vary with building access, run lengths and containment. Fixed quote after a free survey — before any work begins.

THE ONE GOLDEN RULE

Cable before fit-out. Structured cabling installed at shell stage (before floors, walls and furniture) costs the standard rate. The same run after the office is finished costs 2–3× more — access is harder, and surfaces need making-good. If you're fitting out or relocating, get the cabling plan done first. We coordinate directly with your builders and fit-out team.

• Can you tidy a legacy mess? Yes — cabinet re-patches, relabelling and documentation are a common request.

• Do you work alongside other trades? Yes — we coordinate with builders, electricians and fit-out teams on shared programmes.
