WHY A SURVEY BEATS GUESSWORK
The most expensive WiFi mistakes start with someone buying access points and mounting them where it "seems fine". Six months later: dead zones in the corner office, buffering at peak times, and complaints from every floor. A survey costs £150–£300 — a bad WiFi estate costs thousands and annoys everyone daily.
WiFi problems are rarely about speed — they're about placement, interference and capacity. All three are measurable before you spend a penny on hardware.
WHAT A TRISET SURVEY COVERS
- Signal mapping (heatmap) — measured coverage across every floor, showing strengths, weak zones and dead spots
- Dead-zone identification — the exact spots where calls drop and files crawl
- Interference analysis — competing networks, channel congestion, microwave/equipment interference, building materials (steel, concrete, foil insulation kill WiFi)
- Capacity planning — user counts per area, device types, bandwidth demand at peak
- AP placement plan — exact positions, mounting points, and cabling routes for each access point
- Existing network assessment — current APs, age, standards (WiFi 4/5/6/6E), config review, reuse vs replace recommendations
- Wired-side check — switch capacity, PoE budget, backhaul — WiFi is only as good as what feeds it
- Written report — findings, heatmap, AP plan, hardware list and costs
WHO NEEDS A SURVEY
- New offices & fit-outs — plan AP positions before ceilings close (pairs with structured cabling)
- Offices with complaints — slow WiFi, dead zones, dropped calls: find the real cause instead of replacing things randomly
- Warehouses & industrial sites — steel racking and large spans demand measured planning; scanners need coverage at every aisle
- Retail & hospitality — guest WiFi that works on the terrace, not just at the till
- Pre-refresh decisions — is it the APs, the cabling or the config? The survey tells you before you spend
TYPES OF SURVEY
- Predictive survey — plan-based modelling for new builds/fit-outs, done from floor plans before installation
- Passive survey — measures existing signals across the site: heatmaps, dead zones, interference
- Active survey — tests real performance: throughput, roaming between APs, application behaviour at each location
- Post-install validation — verifies the new estate delivers designed coverage (recommended after every install)
Most offices need a passive + active combination; new builds start with predictive. We recommend the right mix per site — never upsell what isn't needed.
COSTS & DELIVERABLES
| Item | Typical cost |
| Standard office survey | £150–£300 |
| Multi-floor / warehouse / large site | Quoted per site |
| Survey fee on accepted install | Usually credited against the project |
You receive: a written report with heatmap, AP placement plan, hardware recommendation with costs, and a cabling needs list — everything required to proceed, whether you use Triset for the install or not.
AFTER THE SURVEY — WE CAN BUILD IT
Most survey clients continue with Triset for the installation: access points mounted to the plan, cabling routed (or reused), switches configured, network tested and validated post-install. One contractor from measurement to working WiFi — but the survey report is yours regardless.
